As your pharmacy benefits partner, we’re introducing two significant formulary enhancements for 2025 to help you deliver more value to your clients.
Expanded Wegovy Coverage for Cardiovascular Care
The FDA has approved an expanded indication for Wegovy to reduce cardiovascular risk in adults with established cardiovascular disease who have obesity or are overweight. In response to this development, and consistent with FDA-approved use guidelines, we are expanding our coverage of Wegovy to include cardiovascular risk reduction for eligible patients. Starting January 1, 2025, Wegovy will be covered for members with cardiovascular disease who meet our prior authorization criteria.
New Humira Coverage Strategy Maximizes Biosimilar Benefits
We’re introducing a more flexible approach to Humira coverage that can help your clients better manage specialty medication costs while maintaining quality care. Starting January 1, 2025:
Standard Formulary Changes
- Brand Humira moves to non-preferred status
- Amjevita becomes preferred
Select Formulary Changes
- Brand Humira moves to the excluded status
- Amjevita maintains preferred coverage
To ensure a smooth transition, we’re providing
- 30-day advance notice to current Humira users
- Extended coverage through June 30, 2025, for transitioning patients
Our Biosimilar Advantage Formulary
Plans can provide even broader access to biosimilar medicines by choosing our Biosimilar Advantage Formulary. This formulary strategically positions reference brands as excluded or non-preferred while driving utilization toward biosimilar options with a lower upfront cost. This formulary offers access to 10 Humira biosimilars, providing greater flexibility and cost management opportunities.
